Adding the date to your diagram
- Click
on the diagram where you want to add the date.
- Edit,
Paste Date
Changing the format of the date

Pasting a new look to old symbols
- Select
the symbol(s)
- Edit,
Paste New Look
Using Rapid Fire
- Click
on the symbol
- Click
on the Rapid Fire icon on the Diagram Tool Bar.
- Type
the related idea. Press
Enter. Repeat this until you have
completed all linked symbols.
- Click
the Rapid Fire icon to turn it off
Moving a Symbol
- Click,
hold and drag the symbol.
Resizing a Symbol
- Click
on the symbol to select it
- Click
and drag on the bottom right handle bar.
Changing a Symbol Shape or Appearance
- If
the Symbol Palette does not appear on the screen, press F8
- Click
the symbol you want to change the appearance of.
- Click
on a new shape or picture in the Symbol Palette.
Changing the Fill Color of Symbols
- Click
on the symbol you want to change.
- From
the Effect Menu, click on Fill Color, then click on the color you want to
use.
Changing the Line Color of Symbols
- Click
on the symbol you want to change.
- From
the Effect Menu, click on Line Color, then click on the color you want to
use.
Delete a Symbol
- Click
on the symbol you wish to delete.
- Press
the Delete key on the keyboard.
Changing Color of Text
- Click
on the symbol that contains the text.
- Click
on the Effect menu.
- Click
on the Text Color.
- Click
on the color of your choice.
Adding Notes to Symbols
- Click
on the symbol
- Click
on the Add Note icon on the Diagram Tool Bar.
Isolating Symbols
- Click
on the symbol you want to isolate.
- From
the View Menu, click on Focus In.
Create Tools
- Select
the idea symbol on your diagram that the new idea relates to by clicking
it.
- On
the Diagram toolbar, click the arrow on either of the Create buttons that
points in the direction where you want to add the new idea symbol.
- The
new symbol appears on your diagram connected to the primary symbol in the direction
you chose.
- Type
your idea in the symbol.
Importing an Image into Inspiration
1.Click
on the symbol or place where you want the image to go.
2.Click on the
Edit menu.
3.Click Insert
Graphic.
4.Navigate to
the location where you saved your image, select it, then click Open.
Creating a New Symbol Library
- Click
on the Utility menu, drag to Edit Symbol Libraries, and click.
- In
the Edit Symbol Libraries dialog box, click on New Library.
- Type
in a name for the new library.
- Click
OK.
- Click
OK again.
- Back
in the document area, click on the down arrow under Basic on the Symbol
Palette. You should see the new
library at the end of the list of symbol libraries.
Add Text to a Link
- Click
the link and type in the text.
Reversing a link direction
- Select
the link.
- On
the Link menu, choose Reverse Link
Changing the Links appearance
- Select
the link line and pick the one you want under the Link menu.
Changing the arrow head on a link
- Select
the link.
- On
the Link menu, choose one of the following:
- Choose
Arrow Head Starting Point
Or
- Choose
Arrow Head Ending Point
Changing the style of a link
- Select
the link.
- Effect
Menu, Line Pattern

Getting a Better View
Position
Button
- Click
the Position Button
- Click
and hold inside the diagram.
- Move
your mouse to slide your diagram to a new position.
Zooming In or Out
1. Click on the “little mountains” or “big mountains” in the bottom
left corner of the window to zoom in
and out on the diagram.
Built-In Templates
- Click
File menu, Template
- Click
on the template you want to use.
- Click
Open to see the template.
- Click
Edit to make changes in the template file.
