Science

AAAS Benchmarks for Science Literacy

These benchmarks are a product of Project 2061 sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). They are statements of what all students should know or be able to do in science, mathematics, and technology by the end of grades 2, 5, 8, and 12.

National Science Education Standards

This set of standards developed by the National Academy of Sciences presents standards in six chapters: science teaching, professional development, science education, science content, education programs and education systems.

Social Studies

National Standards for History

These standards were developed by The National Center for History in the School and contain standards for K-4 History and 5-12 United States and World History.

Geography Standards

The National Geographic Society developed a set of 18 standards to support geography instruction.

Voluntary National Content Standards in Economics

The National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) in cooperation with National Association of Economic Educators and the Foundation for Teaching Economics developed a set of 20 economics curriculum standards.

National Standards for Civics and Government

These standards were developed by the Center for Civic Education and contain content standards specifying what students should know and be and to do in the field of civics and government.

Expectations of Excellence: Curriculum Standards for Social Studies

The National Council for the Social Studies developed this set of ten thematic curriculum standards and accompanying sets of student performance expectations as a minimum of what is essential in social studies.
