National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)

NCATE standards are used to accredit schools, colleges and departments of education. By meeting these national standards for the content and operation of the professional education unit, it assures that teachers entering the field have been suitably prepared to practice through assimilation of a body of knowledge and pre-service practice in the profession.

The Praxis

The Praxis is an assessment for beginning teachers that reflect professional standards. The three-part test assesses knowledge in the area of academic skills, subject matter, and classroom performance.
