- Click on the little apple up in the top left corner; drag to "Applications", over to "Multimedia", then "Adobe PhotoShop 4.0"
- Click on "File" and drag to "Import" then drag to "Scantastic"
- The "Scantastic" dialog box will appear
- Choose resolution. (72 is recommended for presentations or web pages)
- Choose image type: Color, Grayscale, or Text
- Click on "Prescan"
- An image appears on the screen of everything on the scanner bed.
- Next draw a box around the part of the image you want. Move the mouse to the upper right of the image, click and hold the mouse and drag it to the bottom left of the image. A green dotted line will appear around the image.
- Click "Scan"
- The scanner now scans just what you outlined with the green box, and puts the picture up on the screen
To Change the Image Size:
- Click on "Image" and drag to "Image Size"
- Now change the height or width (whichever is larger) to a smaller number.
Changing one automatically changes the other to keep picture perspective the
same, and making the dimensions smaller will decrease the file size as well.
- Check the file size. THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE GOING TO SAVE THE IMAGE
TO A DISK! The file size must be below 1.3 megabytes, but we recommend
making it smaller because otherwise it will take up the whole disk. Zip Disks
(100 megabytes) provide more storage than normal floppy disks (~1.44
megabytes).
- Changing the resolution to a lower number is another way to decrease the
file size.
To Save on a Mac:
- In FILE menu, click SAVE AS
- At top of dialog box, where it says "PhotoShop," pull down to "Desktop"
- Double click on your disk (called Untitled, if you just purchased your disk from us)
- IMPORTANT! Name your image as _______.jpg and save in JPEG Format
(YOU MUST REMEMBER TO ADD the three letter "extension"
.jpg)
- Close all files and in FILE menu, use PUT AWAY command to eject disk from Mac
To Print Your Image(s) in the PC lab, open Adobe PhotoShop.
